Yet Another Summer Beer

I’m a little behind on posting stuff by a few weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to New York City for a long weekend. While there we got to enjoy a lot of different food and drinks, as one does in New York.

One that stood out to me was Five Boroughs Brewing Co. Summer Ale. Naturally I had to try it because not only was it local; out of Brooklyn New York, but the name was Summer Ale; perfect for the weekend that was starting off my summer!

Now let me tell you this beer was so good I ended up ordering two of the same one. The place we went also had an ipa on tap but as you’ve probably come to find out I don’t do ipas so I stuck with this beaut. It had the perfect light summery taste you would expect in its namesake.

I was instantly drawn to the can because it really embodied the spirit of the season and was simple yet beautiful.

After looking at the website I found that unfortunately this summer ale is a seasonal offering; which I should’ve guessed, but is also only available in one of their taproom locations and a few select restaurants and possibly stores. So sadly I probably will not be able to try this beer again unless I go back to New York and hunt it down.

However I am happy I got to try it. This was the first beer I’ve had in awhile that was completely new in the fact that I hadn’t had any of their other beers before or even really heard of the brewery. So for me that was exciting because that doesn’t happen that often anymore now that I literally drink beer all the time now and brewery hop all over.

So if you happen to stop this on a menu anywhere or see it in a store send it my way! Jk but definitely give it a taste if you’re in the mood for something refreshing.

Black Birch Epic White

I think it is epically (lol get it) funny that my first post is about a wine.

In case I forgot to mention it in the intro I am not the biggest fan of wines. I force myself to go to wine tastings because my mom and boyfriend like them but 99% of the time I can’t even sip it. That’s why when that 1% of the time I do find a wine I like I obsess.

Enter Black Birch’s Epic White.

This past weekend was Mother’s Day and my boyfriend and I decided to take our moms to a local winery for tastings and a charcuterie appetizer. It was unsurprisingly crowded but what a gorgeous and accommodating place they have. They are located in Hatfield, Massachusetts which I forgot to mention, and are down this quaint little dirt road with vineyards sprawling along the sides.

Going into the tasting I expected to not like anything but was shocked to find the first wine I tried I loved. Fast forward to me buying a bottle and finishing the rest off today. It was a nice sweet but not too sweet wine with light fruity flavors at the head. The aftertaste was a little bubbly with the fruit still lingering.

As a afterthought when I do like wines they are usually moscato types of super sweet fruit forward wines so again it was a surprise I liked this one.

So to sum it up I’m shocked my first post was a wine but there you go. Go out and try some of Black Birch’s Epic White. Summer is coming after all.
